Tom Brown – Mentee

Tom BrownI work at BBC East Midlands Today in Nottingham.

My job includes anything from producing bulletins and cutting pieces to reporting out in the field and presenting in the studio.

At the moment I’m presenting our early morning bulletins and it’s great fun – despite the 03:50 alarm!

This is my first job after leaving uni so – although I felt ready for it – I knew I also still had a lot to learn.

This is where the John Schofield Trust came in.

As soon as I found out about it, I knew it could give me an extra boost as I made my first steps up the career ladder.

I was lucky enough to be selected and given Matthew Price as my mentor, who’s already given me a lot of advice that I hope will help me not just now but throughout my career.

The world of TV journalism is already a great place to be – but the John Schofield Trust has helped make it even better.
